Floral Paintings
2016 - Present
Cath also produces paintings and studies that feed into her sculptural work - acting as a representational anchor that steadies and grounds her conceptual thinking.
Cath learned to paint on her dad’s easel after many years of studying colour, shape, and form through everyday activities such as dressmaking and cooking.
Painting provides a traditional calmness, comfort, and security for Cath, and allows her to extend her practice of memory capture to an immediate and accessible medium. She is trying to describe a life in all its complexities of truth and the not so true parts that we tell ourselves to get through: an autobiographical editing with the purpose of keeping beauty at the fore.
